The story follows Civil War veteran John Carter, a mysterious and capable adventurer who is unexpectedly transported to Mars—known to its inhabitants as Barsoom. On this dying world of vast deserts, ancient cities, and strange creatures, Carter discovers that the planet’s lower gravity gives him extraordinary strength and agility. Captured by the fierce green Martians, he becomes entangled in the planet’s brutal conflicts and political rivalries while struggling to understand the customs of this alien civilization.
As Carter journeys across Barsoom, he meets the beautiful Princess Dejah Thoris of Helium and becomes determined to protect her from the dangers threatening her kingdom.
